Christie Cunningham

Hi there, or should I say, Hey y'all? My name is Christie Cunningham, and I own A Step Above Home Care Agency LLC in Denver, NC. I'm a Registered Nurse with nearly 25 years of experience in ICU, Oncology, Home Health, Geriatrics and Dementia care, Rehabilitation, Nursing Management, and medical offices. Nursing is my calling. I grew up admiring my grandmothers, both of whom faced Dementia. Witnessing their struggles was hard, but it taught me to treat others with kindness and meet them where they are. It fueled my passion for treating patients with dignity and respect. As a business owner now, my experiences drive me to go above and beyond for seniors and others in my community, treating them like family and exceeding expectations.

I grew up in Northeast Tennessee and am a proud fan of the University of Tennessee. I attend as many athletic events as I can each year—I definitely bleed orange. When I'm not cheering for Tennessee, I'm at my son Mason's, daughter Elaina's, or grandsons Colton and Connor's athletic events. I have four kids ranging in age from almost 30 to almost 12, and my grandsons are truly the apples of my eye. My husband, Dale, also owns a business and is an avid hunter and fisherman. We look forward to our annual trip to Missouri to hunt for big bucks.

I'm also deeply passionate about supporting Veterans. My father, a 30-year Marine Corps and Army Reserve Veteran, was my hero. I honor his legacy by advocating for Veteran causes. I love this country and am proud to be an American. I'm currently working to become credentialed to accept Veteran clients through my business. I also strive to connect Veterans and their spouses with services to meet their needs, ensuring they receive the support they deserve.
